ABOUT THE BANDS

IZZI, an Ukrainian band from Warsaw, plays Ukrainian pop-rock infused with powerful energy, spirituality, and the essence of nature. Their upcoming album ​“Always Free” embodies the energy of the new Ukrainian youth – strong, unified, and full of love for their culture. The band is dedicated to celebrating Ukrainian heritage, with their motto ​“Helping is izzi” reflecting their musical strength.

Аладдін

Luxembourgish Alternative Rock band Deep Dive culture’s lyrics centre around personal experiences and are based on true stories. The name derives from the comparison between the human mind and the ocean: both are nigh endlessly deep, and when you dive deep enough, you find things hiding from the light, like dark thoughts, and suffocated emotions.

«Mariupol. A Hundred Nights» tells us a story of a little girl who wakes up on February 24th because of the air raid alert and tries to find someone living in the burning city. The main character is based on the story of Alice, a 4‑year girl who stayed in the besieged Mariupol the whole time. She was also at Azovstal during the last month of defense. When russians allowed the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal, Alice was separated from her mother. A poem used in the film is «The wheels, the wheels, they hit the road» («Кolesa hlukho stukotiat») by Vasyl Stus, who was a Ukrainian poet and an active member of the dissident movement in the ​’60s and ​’70s. Stus was repressed and died in GULAG.

This story is a chance for a thoughtful conversation with children (or even with oneself) about what is happening now in the country, or elsewhere in the world, in the format of the magic history, which always leaves room for hope and optimism.
