Les Voyeuses Liliana Francisco
INTENTION
“Métamorphoses urbaines explores the transformation of urban spaces, such as the 19th-century railway roundhouses that have become a vibrant cultural centre. This evolution mirrors our innate human drive for personal growth and change. However, this transformation is not without obstacles, particularly in a context where economic interests often overshadow cultural priorities. This tug-of-war complicates personal development, as people find themselves juggling their dreams with financial realities.
The transformation of the six photographs is achieved using various collage techniques. While keeping the original essence of each image, layers have been added to reflect how personal and spatial evolution interweave. This includes distortions and transformations, with visual elements like fragments of the human body emerging from the buildings and their surroundings. By blending human elements with Rotondes’s original structures, the link between human growth and the natural expansion of our spaces is highlighted.
This project hits close to home for me, having grown up in Luxembourg City’s Gare neighbourhood. The exploration of this project holds a deep personal significance for me.”
