Multiplica Lab

As an extension of their live A/V performance from the night before, Sébastien Robert and Mark IJzerman present an installation adapted from their project Another Deep.

During their Arctic Circle residency, Sébastien Robert and Mark IJzerman collected audio and visual material from the Svalbard region (Norway), ranging from recordings of melting glaciers to footage of other-than-human beings invisible to the human eye. The installation provides a distinctive view of the textures, entities, and elements found in an environment that will soon be impacted by deep-sea mining.

Initiated during the Arctic Circle Residency (Svalbard, NO) / With the financial support of the Mondriaan Fund, Stroom Den Haag, the French Institute Norway, and Culture Moves Europe / With technical support from Michelle Barker (underwater drone), Diane Willow (microscopy), the EYE Museum, the National Library of Norway, and the University of Edinburgh (archives) / Co-produced by BEK – Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts, V2_ – Lab for the Unstable Media, Chroniques – Biennale des Imaginaires Numériques, the GMEM – Centre national de création musicale, and Multiplica – Rotondes / Part of the CHRONIQUES CREATIONS Platform, supported by the DRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and the City of Marseille.
