In Bhaji on the Beach, a group of women of Indian descent take a trip together from their home in Birmingham to the beach in Blackpool. Wild teenage girls and older women are all torn between the tradition of their culture and their desire for independence. At first glance, they have little in common, but the events of the day gradually lead them to understanding and mutual solidarity.
Bhaji on the Beach is the first British feature film written and directed by a woman of Indian descent.
