Ascend (directed by Simon Perkins, 6')

EN Bicycle users, film lovers and adventure seekers are invited to B:loft Film Night, the only such an event dedicated to bicycle films in Luxembourg.

The audience will be treated to a selection of short bicycle films standing out for their great storytelling, captivating images and thought-provoking plot. The film line-up features a premiere of The New Woman: Annie “Londonderry” Kopchovsky, the story of a 23-year old Jewish immigrant and mother of three who changed the world for women by attempting to be the first female to circle the globe on bicycle.

Next is the movie rewarded during prestigious adventure film festivals: The Frozen Road. This is an honest reflection on Ben Page's solo trip in the Canadian Arctic: the wonder, terror and frustration he experienced when riding through the unforgiving emptiness of one of the world's last great wildernesses.

In a similar spirit − yet warmer than -30°C − will be Road from Karakol about athlete Kyle Dempster who took off on his bike across Kyrgyzstan with a couple of mostly accurate maps, a trailer full of climbing gear, and a vocabulary of 10 Kyrgyz words. He spent two months pedaling and pushing the bike for more than 1,200 km on roads of variable states of neglect, wading through wild rivers and soloing a handful of unclimbed alpine rock and mixed routes.

Finally, the movie Ascend poignantly articulates the reasons why so many of us love to ride mountain bikes.
