EN CinEast invites you to a special evening to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the foundation of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

After a funny short film and an entertaining quiz about the three Baltic countries comes the main course of the Baltic Party: the concert of the dream pop collective Polifauna from Latvia.

Formed by the songwriter and band leader Andris Strazds, Polifauna draws inspiration mostly from the 90’s indie scene and has earned comparisons to bands like Slowdive, Mazzy Star or Cigarettes After Sex. Polifauna uses catchy melodies, vast seas of guitar effects, layers of analogue and digital synths accompanied by lush vocals in English and a groovy rhythm section all swirling in psychedelic awesomeness. Their debut LP You Look Like a Lost Soul, recorded in an old spacious apartment in the city centre of Riga and released just a few months ago, has been very well received by critics and audiences alike and has earned the band invitations to gigs at many places – now also including Luxembourg!

After the show, Riga Disco Blitz DJs will invite you to explore countless variations of dance music. This collaborative project by two Latvian DJs – AAAtoms and Heincha, currently residing in Luxembourg and playing regularly at De Gudde Wëllen, Rocas and Rotondes – will seduce you with groovy and feel-good tunes while moving through various musical styles and keep you dancing until the early hours.

A selection of traditional Eastern European dishes and drinks will be available throughout the evening. So come to get a bit of the Baltic feel with CinEast!
